Mariah Carey stops an elf strike to kick off Christmas
The singer has released the video in which she performs her famous song 'All I want for Christmas is you'
BarcelonaMariah Carey doesn't like to waste time. Just hours after Halloween ended in the United States, the singer has already kicked off the Christmas season by posting the traditional Christmas video on Instagram. All I want for Christmas is youhis famous pop Christmas carol that has made him a millionaireOriginally released in 1994, it's a song that's constantly playing in the background music of shops and shopping centers throughout the Christmas season. Much of its success is due to the film. Love actually (2003), which included her on its soundtrack.
To welcome Christmas, even though the celebrations are still almost two months away, Carey has posted a video on social media in which she appears dressed in white with large angel wings. When she enters her dressing room, the singer encounters one of Santa's elves who confronts her and tells her that this year "Christmas has been canceled." Santa's helpers go on strike after last year's Christmas spirit, fueled by Carey, made them overwork themselves. To stop the elf's misdeed, the singer belts out "It's Time" with such a powerful high note that the Christmas helper transforms into a snowman. Meanwhile, Carey changes out of her immaculate white outfit into a Mrs. Claus costume and climbs into a sleigh. Evidently, the singer's video also has commercial objectives: this year the singer has partnered with the perfume chain Sephora.
In just five hours, the Christmas video had accumulated over 700,000 likes and had been shared more than 200,000 times.
Carey had been building anticipation on social media for days in anticipation of her Christmas video release. Just a couple of days ago, she posted another one in which several people asked her when she would officially kick off the Christmas season. She responded by singing, in every way imaginable, "Not yet."
