Barcelona is the city in the entire Spanish state where it is most expensive to park a vehicle with an ECO label (hybrid cars or alternative fuels such as natural gas) and the third city in the state where it is most expensive to park vehicles with the zero-emission environmental label (fully electric cars or plug-in hybrids), as indicated by a study by Bipi, the company specializing in subscription vehicles of the Renault group.

Parking a vehicle with an ECO label costs €2.25 per hour in Barcelona, establishing itself as the most expensive city in Spain. Barcelona's parking price for this type of vehicle is higher in Vitoria (€2.15 per hour) and Palma (€1.45 per hour). Regarding vehicles with a Zero label, the Catalan capital is the third most expensive city in Spain, surpassed by Vitoria and Palma.

Barcelona's rates contrast significantly with those in Madrid, where parking an ECO-labeled vehicle costs €0.30 per hour, or six times less than in Barcelona. The comparative analysis is even more striking when we consider the price of parking zero-emission vehicles, i.e., pure electric vehicles or long-range plug-in hybrids. Parking a zero-emission vehicle in Barcelona costs up to €1.15 per hour, while parking in Madrid is completely free.

L'Hospitalet, the cheapest city in the state

Madrid's parking rates make the Spanish capital the second cheapest city in Spain for parking vehicles with an ECO or Zero Emissions label, surpassed only by the city of Hospitalet de Llobregat. Parking on the streets of Hospitalet is free for vehicles with an ECO or Zero Emissions label, a reality that contrasts with the city of Barcelona, where parking is limited curb to curb.
