ABT is a German tuner based in the city of Kempten, in the south of the state of Bavaria, not far from the border with Austria. This independent tuner has specialized in radical tuning of Audi and Volkswagen models for many years, and for a few years now has focused on its collaborations with Cupra. In fact, the Cupra team that competed in Formula E between 2022 and 2024 was called ABT Cupra Team, which strengthened the relationship between Cupra and the German tuner. Cupra, for its part, has been evolving for years as an independent brand with magnificent commercial records and with a model, the Formentor, which has elevated the reputation of its products. In a very competitive segment where only the best survive (or those who adapt most quickly to the environment), the Formentor has more than shown its value and versatility.

ABT CUPRA VZ5.

As a result of the relationship between German tuners and Cupra, and thanks to the Formentor's good reputation, ABT has developed an extreme evolution of the Cupra Formentor VZ with an Audi-sourced five-cylinder engine, which increases the engine's power to –attention!– 635 hp and a top speed exceeding 300 km/h. But the technical preparation goes much further, and it brings innovative solutions such as a water and ethanol injection system that allows the engine temperature to be reduced just before intake and improves internal combustion, thus having a higher flow of oxygen that optimizes the engine's power delivery. The preparation of ABT includes a new turbo and intercooler, a new system of electronically adjustable coilover suspensions, stabilizer bars on both axles and aerodynamic details such as a large rear spoiler that improves the car's aerodynamic coefficient. Unfortunately, the Cupra Formentor VZ 635 will only be sold at official ABT dealerships in Switzerland, Germany and Austria (the tuner has none in Catalonia or any Spanish city), in a limited and numbered edition of only 30 units, at a price that ABT has not wished to confirm.
