BarcelonaThe Catalan company Sateliot has officially entered the Australian market. This company, which offers satellite telecommunications services for the Internet of Things (IoT) with 5G coverage—through non-terrestrial networks (NTN) with its own satellite constellation—has received a license to deploy these services throughout the country. This will allow its service to be implemented on a large scale in rural and remote regions, where traditional networks do not reach. This deployment is planned for the second half of this year.

However, Sateliot had already signed several contracts to deploy its services in the country in sectors such as agriculture, mining, and environmental monitoring, totaling 15 million Australian dollars (approximately 8.7 million euros). The company has also launched a pilot program allowing local IoT providers to test its standard 5G satellite connectivity.

"Australia's unique geography and economic landscape make it one of the most promising markets for NTN-enabled IoT services," said Gianluca Redolfi, CCO of Sateliot. "From agriculture and mining to environmental monitoring, the need for affordable, reliable, and scalable connectivity is growing exponentially," he added. For example, an agri-food company that grows crops and wants to monitor moisture can install a sensor in the soil to know when to water and have it connected to the Catalan company's satellite, which will link it to terrestrial connections so the company can access the data in an app.

Sateliot's strategic partners include the Spanish government and the European Investment Bank, and has signed roaming agreements with Deutsche Telekom, Telefónica, and Eseye, among others. telecommunicationsA few weeks ago, the company closed a €70 million Series B funding round.
