Indra doubles its bet on Catalonia

Goirigolzarri jumps from banking to the world of fashion

Indra has been restructuring its top management for several months, with recent changes in president and CEO, and the incorporation of new high-level directives. This reinforcement of the technology and defense company's top level also reaches Catalonia, where the company chaired by Àngel Simón has appointed a new territorial director, Enric Blasco. Furthermore, a lifelong banker, José Ignacio Goirigolzarri – he was CEO of BBVA, president of Bankia, and president of CaixaBank – is making the leap into the fashion world as a new independent director of Inditex, the company controlled by Amancio Ortega which owns brands such as Zara, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, and Bershka, among others.

Enric Blasco

Territorial Director of Indra in Catalonia

Indra strengthens its technological and business presence in Catalonia with the incorporation of Enric Blasco as the company's new territorial director, effective July 1. Blasco (Sabadell, 1972) is an industrial engineer and businessman. Founder and CEO of the engineering group IDP, he transformed the company, born in Sabadell, into an international firm with a presence in over 50 countries, specializing in BIM, industrial digitalization, technological infrastructures, and advanced asset management. Under his leadership, IDP consolidated and in 2024 was integrated into the international group Bureau Veritas.

He is currently president of Cassa and, from his new role at Indra, will assume maximum responsibility for the company in Catalonia: he will lead the territorial strategy and institutional and business relations in the territory and will report to Indra's CEO, Josep Maria Recasens.

The appointment of Enric Blasco, along with that of Anna Ortí as business director in Catalonia a few months ago, strengthens Indra's structure in Catalonia. Ortí, a computer engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and a master's in public management from Esade, will continue to drive business development and the execution of strategic projects in Catalonia within the framework led by Blasco. She has over twenty years of experience in the public sector and thirteen years of experience at the company, where she has led initiatives with a direct impact on the territory.

Independent Director of Inditex

Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte in SpainJosé Ignacio Goirigolzarri Tellaeche (Bilbao, 1954) is an economist. He was CEO of BBVA from 2001 to 2009; president of the state holding company BFA and its main subsidiary, Bankia, from 2012 to March 2021, and executive president of CaixaBank from then until 2024. He holds a degree in Economic and Business Sciences from the Deusto Business School (Bilbao) and in Finance and Strategic Planning from the University of Leeds (United Kingdom). He was a professor at Deusto, in the strategic planning area, between 1977 and 1979.

Ana Torrens

Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte in Spain

Deloitte has a woman at the helm in Spain for the first time. Ana Torrens, with more than 30 years at the company, which she joined in 1994, is its new CEO. Between 2017 and 2021, Torrens led the audit & assurance area in Catalonia, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, and Andorra for product and service industries. Since 2021, she has been the partner responsible for audit & assurance at Deloitte Spain and a member of the global committee. Throughout her career, she has led numerous financial audits and advisory projects for the main entities in our country, covering improvements in organization and processes, risk management, and feasibility analysis. She is strongly committed to diversity and created the Diversity and Inclusion Committee in the audit area, according to the company. She also has experience as a lecturer in business schools on various subjects such as international regulations, financial information, accounting, or auditing.

Joana de Epalza

Financial Director of Iberia

Joana de Epalza, until now at Vueling, has started this week as Chief Financial Officer of Iberia. With more than two decades in positions of responsibility in finance and management in different multinationals and, in recent years, at Vueling, De Epalza joins the Spanish flag carrier at an important moment for the company, in full development of the 2030 Flight Plan. "It is a complex juncture, but we are very fortunate at Iberia that it catches us strong. We have done our homework in recent years and have a solid financial situation. Even so, we must continue to act proactively and strategically," assures De Epalza. Until now, the financial director was Gabriel Perdiguero, who is taking on a new role at British Airways (a company that shares a parent company with Iberia), after more than a decade at the Spanish airline, where he has held different positions in the areas of finance, transformation, technology, and customers. Following these changes, the technology area will now report to the director of strategy, transformation, and sustainability, Diego Fernández.

Paco Pérez Botello

President of the German Chamber of Commerce for Spain

The ordinary general assembly of members of the German Chamber of Commerce for Spain has elected Paco Pérez Botello, president of Volkswagen Group Spain Distribution and vice-president of the institution since 2025, as the new president. Pérez Botello takes over at the helm of the Hispano-German institution from Osmar Polo, CEO of T-Systems Iberia, who leaves the position after four years and seven years as a member of the board of directors. Born in Isla Cristina (Huelva) in 1963, Pérez Botello holds a degree in physics and has a master's degree in business administration and management from Esade. He began his career in the automotive sector at Ford, where he held various management positions in Spain and Europe in the areas of marketing, sales, after-sales, and dealer operations. In 2010, he joined Volkswagen Group Spain Distribution – then Volkswagen-Audi Spain – as director of the Volkswagen brand and a member of the executive committee. Since April 2014, he has chaired Volkswagen Group Spain Distribution. A member of the German Chamber's board of directors since 2022, he served as vice-president of the institution since 2025.

Carles Navarro

New Minister of Action

Acció, the agency for the competitiveness of the Generalitat, has signed Carles Navarro as a new member of its board of directors. Navarro, who has previously been vice president and general director of BASF in Spain, among other positions, and is currently president of the organizing committee of Expoquimia, joins the Acció board backed by extensive professional and business experience. With this incorporation, the Acció board of directors strengthens its composition with reference profiles, with the aim of continuing to drive the growth of the Catalan economy and businesses.
