BarcelonaGlovo, the Barcelona-born home delivery platform, is back in the news. This time in the executive market, after launching an advisory board that will include several former politicians and businessmen, with names well known to everyone. Glovo thus covers its shoulders after years of back-and-forth with the authorities and several open court battles, such as the war with Just Eat over alleged unfair competition. Puig also took advantage of his earnings presentation to announce a new position, and Ipsen has a new CEO.

Glovo launches an advisory board full of former politicians

Glovo, the giant of delivery Founded by Oscar Pierre and Sacha Michaud and now owned by German company Delivery Hero, the advisory board has launched. The goal is to surround itself with well-known names from the Spanish political and business world to serve as a forum for strategic consultation.

So far, this board has secured the support of Raül Blanco, former president of Renfe and former secretary general of the Ministry of Industry under the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party); José Manuel García-Margallo, former Minister of Foreign Affairs for the PP between 2011 and 2016 and former MEP and vice president of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs in the European Parliament; Natàlia Mas, former Minister of Economy of the Generalitat (Catalan Government) between 2022 and 2024 and current general director of Respira Energía; Marta Pascal, former secretary general of the PDeCat (Catalan Workers' Party) (2016-2018); Anna Miralles Jaime, Systems Director at Pro a Pro, and Manel Arroyo, CEO and shareholder of Dorna Sports and former Vice President of FC Barcelona.

Puig creates the position of Deputy CEO

Puig has created the position of deputy CEO (deputy CEO), leading all divisions, to drive the development of the company's vision and strategy across the entire business, the Catalan perfume and beauty group explained during the presentation of its half-year results. This position will report directly to Marc Puig, President and CEO of Puig, and will be assumed by José Manuel Albesa, who will combine this responsibility with the presidency of the division. Gabriel Galván, new general manager of Ipsen Iberia

Ipsen, the global biopharmaceutical company focused on innovation and specialized care, has appointed Gabriel Galván as its new general manager for Spain and Portugal. Galván replaces Aurora Berra de Unamuno, who has assumed new international responsibilities within the company.

Galván has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in the areas of oncology and ophthalmology. During his career, he has held several senior positions at Novartis, both nationally and internationally. Among other positions, he served as Regional Director for Latin America and Canada, and General Manager of Oncology in Spain and Mexico.

Mercer, a company specializing in human resources, career, retirement planning and investment services, has announced the appointment of Jaime Sol Espinosa de los Monteros as the new leader of its Human Resources division. Career, who will report to Pedro Polo, CEO of Marsh McLennan and president of Mercer in Spain. Solo joins Mercer from the consulting firm EY. For the past nine years, he has served as managing partner of the firm's People Advisory Services division.
