The Egyptian writer and feminist reference Nawal El Saadawi has died

Egyptian writer Nawal El Saadawi, a leading figure in the feminist struggle in the Arab world, has died at the age of 89. Always combative, the author of Women and Sex was threatened by Islamist radicals and in 1981 she was imprisoned for criticizing the regime of Anwar al Sadat.
