Competition authorises merger of Bankia and Caixabank subject to conditions

The National Competition Market Commission (CNMC) has authorised the merger of CaixaBank and Bankia as long as the new group avoids financial exclusion and the tightening of commissions and conditions. The merger affects retail banking and other sectors such as cards, ATMs and insurance.
