Antoni Bassas's analysis: 'From Puigdemont and the CEO survey to Feijóo's slip-up'

The CEO poll showing Aliança Catalana tied with Junts in seats is still causing a stir, and we'll talk about it shortly. First, a moment from this morning in the Congressional control sessionFeijóo, of course, asked Sánchez about the conviction of the Attorney General (of which, by the way, we still don't have the sentence) and Sánchez, despite being in dire straits, surrounded by those under investigation and unable to pass budgets, didn't even flinch:

Sánchez: "Between journalists who exonerate in their testimony in the second chamber of the Supreme Court the Attorney General and the Chief of Staff of Ms. Ayuso, who says that he did indeed lie to spread a false news story and be able to cover up the shameful actions of Ms. Ayuso's partner, this government and I find ourselves in a situation where..."

With skill: if the government is on the side of truth, the Supreme Court is on the side of lies. And then one of those ridiculous moments occurred, because they were supposed to be forceful and they backfired. They know that a series about the coup d'état of February 23, 1981, based on Javier Cercas's book entitled Anatomy of a Momentin which, among others, President Adolfo Suárez is portrayed. Feijóo has been given a good idea: what will the series that will one day be filmed about Pedro Sánchez's presidency be called? "Anatomy of what?"

Feijóo: "Do you know something? Will a television series about your years as president ever be filmed and titled..."

When he was about to say it, he stumbled over "anatomy," and since his time was up, his microphone cut out and he couldn't be heard. Instead of "Anatomy of an Instant," Feijóo meant to say "Anatomy of a Charlatan."

Regarding the CEO poll and yesterday's analysis, which generated numerous comments on our website, and in which we stated that Junts and its leader, Carles Puigdemont, should face reality, even though it is just a poll, well, Carles Puigdemont does not deny "at all," and this is important to emphasize, the upward trend of Aliança Catalana. And he knows, firsthand, because his mayors call him, that Junts voters say they will vote for the far right. But Puigdemont points out that the poll surveyed far more people from the PSC or Esquerra than actually voted for those two parties, and far fewer than those who voted for Junts., Therefore, given this bias, it cannot be assumed that the elections will result in the tie predicted by the polls. This is Puigdemont's position, who also points out that as the amnesty process nears its conclusion, the pressure on Puigdemont's political figure is increasing, thus neutralizing the effects of his potential return.

Because we've long known that facts are important, but so is the narrative, and that everyone invests considerable resources in crafting a favorable narrative. In this regard, don't miss Mònica Planas's television critique of the image of Jordi Pujol that we have seen these dayswhere his trial and that of his family have begun. The image that has made headlines, like this one fromThe Country, from yesterday.

Mònica Planas says: "Pujol collapsed before the screen, in a state of severe fragility, is used almost as a visual verdict. It's as if this exposure were part of the punishment to be served." In short: Let no one forget that they are judging Pujol.
