Carly Simon, an icon of 70s and 80s folk music and author of the hit You’re so vain, has announced that she suffers from Parkinson's and has had skin cancer. The singer communicated the diagnosis on Monday through a letter to the magazine People in which she explained that, despite the illness, she “has not stopped living or working”. In addition to having to live with Parkinson's, Simon has stated that she was also operated on her face to remove a basal cell carcinoma, the most common skin cancer, and that for this reason she has been “in relative silence”. “Between the mobility problems, the Parkinson's diagnosis, the surgery and the emotional effects, I needed to withdraw from public life,” explains Simon.
