Since she said goodbye to SER in June, Àngels Barceló has been living a new life away from daily news. A new stage that has allowed her to return to Catalonia after many years living in Madrid. "I had been in Madrid since 1997, I have almost lived more years in Madrid than in Barcelona. I have always said that Madrid was not the city where I wanted to grow old, and I was growing old in Madrid," she explained in an interview on the program Bàsics on Betevé. Although she continues to maintain a bond with her host city, her life is now in Maresme, whose quality of life she defends. "I have registered as a resident in Catalonia again," she assured.

The change at the helm of the leading radio program in Spain, Hoy por Hoy on Cadena Ser, took effect this Thursday. Àngels Barceló surprisingly bid farewell to the audience at the end of the program, along with her team, with a message hidden in a metaphor: "It's the last Hoy por Hoy I'm doing. It's over. Be happy for me, please – she told her colleagues–. We're turning the page. I'm already the left page, and now it's time to complete the right page," she said, fueling rumors that point to her disagreement with the company's management having political connotations, which Prisa denies.

The Prisa group reported this Friday that next season will begin with a new face at the helm of the morning show Hoy por hoy, the leading radio magazine in Spain, which since 2019 has been hosted by Àngels Barceló. The move comes after the Catalan journalist decided not to renew her contract, after 21 years at the station. "I infinitely appreciate the loyalty and trust of the listeners, my teams, and my collaborators," say the statements included in the group's official note announcing this change, which, on the contrary, does not include any thanks to the company or the station.
