Congenital heart defects are among the most frequent congenital defects among newborns. In Catalonia, nearly 600 babies are born each year with some type of malformation of the heart or blood vessels. It is estimated that one in every hundred children presents some cardiovascular alteration from birth. In some cases, these health problems can also accompany them throughout adult life and compromise their physical capacity and quality of life.
