The Filmin platform premiered last Friday the documentary Isla familia, co-directed and starring Cubans Abraham Jiménez Enoa, a recognized –and persecuted– independent journalist, and Claudia Calviño, one of the leading producers of independent Cuban cinema. The feature film, which they recorded with their mobile phones and is the directorial debut for both, narrates how the couple decides to leave their country for Spain after strong repression and harassment by the Cuban regime. All while they await the birth of their first child.

The saying goes that comedy is tragedy plus time, and this Thursday Movistar+ will put it to the test with the premiere of a series that recreates one of the events that gripped the country for almost a month: the kidnapping of player Enrique Castro, alias Quini. It was 1981, and groups like ETA or the Grapo resorted to quick kidnappings as a way to finance themselves. But the footballer's case deviated from this scheme, as the captors were a trio of people with no prior experience in crime, drowning in debt and who did not foresee all the complications – beyond the legal ones – that their action would entail. Por cien millones revisits the case, but from the perspective of these anti-heroes, to whom the creators apply a compassionate gaze.

After the success of the musical Blood brothersThe Condal Theatre in Barcelona will host the comedy from March 19th A brilliant idea, by French author Sébastien Castro, starring Lluís Villanueva, Xavi Mira, Anna Azcona and Susanna Garachana (who also adapted the play), and directed by Xavier Ricart. On the one hand, it's a company with professionals who are true experts in the genre and who have proven they have a firm grasp on the audience. On the other hand, this is a text that can already be considered a comedy classic; it has already triumphed in France and now arrives at the Condal stage," says Daniel Anglès, artistic director of the Teatre Condal, where the play will run until April 19. Xavier Ricart echoes Daniel Susanna Garachana's words regarding his adaptation work. He affirms that he didn't make a mistake with the casting and says he is "happy with the effort" they made, and he is grateful that the Teatre Condal allowed them to work in their space from day one. "It's not easy to do comedy; it requires surrounding yourself with a good team." "The comedy's only message is that people can come and enjoy themselves, have a good time, and forget about what's happening outside," Ricart explains.
