While more foreign tourists than ever arrive in Catalonia, domestic tourism is falling. Excursions and trips by Catalans within the territory are down 25.6% compared to before the pandemic, 2019. According to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) compiled by ARA, trips are down 19.1%, and day trips are down 28.3%.

After obtaining record profits of 2,023 million euros last year, Naturgy's profits continue to rise in 2026. During this first semester, the energy company's earnings have increased by 5.9% compared to the same period in 2025, reaching 1,215 million, as reported this Wednesday to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

As expected, prices have picked up again during the month of June, increasing the cost of living by 0.8% in Catalonia compared to May. The prices of goods and services have accelerated their growth throughout Spain, where they have risen by 0.6%, coinciding with the end of tax reductions on electricity and gas approved by the Spanish government to mitigate the effects of the Iran war.

The sale price of housing in Catalonia during the first quarter has risen by 10.5% compared to the same period last year, below the state average of 12.9%, according to the housing price index published by the INE this Monday.

Another defeat for the Spanish government in Congress. The lower house approved a 2.7% increase in pensions this year (only Vox voted against it), but rejected, for the second time, the social safety net decree and the decree promoted by the Minister of Social Rights, Pablo Bustinduy, which would have allowed the Spanish government to limit the prices of goods. Both measures were defeated by the votes of the PP, Vox, and Junts. "Be clear that people will take note [of your decision] and they have long memories," said Bustinduy.
