A vote-getter, but also a source of scandals. If we look more closely, however, the Valencian PP isn't one, but three: the one in Alicante, the one in Valencia, and the one in Castellón.

The disastrous handling of Mazón's resignation by the PP

https://en.ara.cat/editorial/the-disastrous-handling-of-mazon-s-resignation-by-the-pp_129_5557408.html

Crisis management experts always recommend acting quickly and decisively to prevent a crisis from dragging on longer than expected or creating new ones. This is precisely what happened in the Valencian Community with the resignation of Carlos Mazón as president of the Generalitat after being publicly humiliated by the victims' families at the state funeral held for the first anniversary of the devastating floods. Mazón announced his resignation, but surprisingly, and after a whole weekend of consultations between him and Alberto Núñez Feijóo, no one announced who would replace him. A week later, Valencians still don't know who the candidate for investiture will be and, therefore, who will be their highest public representative. Mazón's resignation, which was intended to end one crisis, has opened another in the form of an internal power struggle within the Valencian PP, as well as between the Valencian PP and the national party headquarters in Madrid, over who should succeed him. The disarray within the Valencian PP is so profound that its general secretary and candidate to replace Mazón, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, has asked Feijóo to appoint the candidate himself to avoid a complete mess. In Valencia, they believe the only way to prevent a fratricidal war between the different factions is for Madrid to decide. But, as it happens, Feijóo once again refuses to make a decision. And Vox is exploiting his indecision to highlight that the problem for Valencian governance is not them, but the PP.

The Valencian PP agrees that Vicent Mompó will be the replacement for Carlos Mazón

https://en.ara.cat/politics/the-valencian-pp-agrees-that-vicent-mompo-will-be-the-replacement-for-carlos-mazon_1_5547971.html

Carlos Mazón's political career may be numbered. The booing he received from victims at the state funeral on the first anniversary of the DANA storm, in which the They called him a "murderer"This has marked a turning point for the Valencian president. Also significant are the new revelations made on Friday by the former Minister of the Interior, Salomé Pradas, who asserted that He informed them of the possibility of sending the alert to the public. During lunch at El Ventorro, Mazón has maintained that no one informed him or consulted him about sending that mass alert to the population. Against this backdrop, the PP leadership in the Valencian Community met on Friday to discuss replacing Mazón as PP leader, a move that could occur even before the elections scheduled for May 2027. According to sources within the political party, this was reported to EFE on Saturday. These same sources confirmed that the regional PP leaders in Valencia have already conveyed their support for Mompó, the current president of the Valencia Provincial Council, to the party's national leadership in Madrid. The decision was made amidst internal debate about the complicated situation the party is facing following the latest reports on Mazón's handling of the DANA storm. On Friday, in Alicante, the Secretary General of the PPCV, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, met; The party's spokesperson in the Valencian Parliament, and the three provincial party presidents, who also serve as presidents of their respective provincial councils—Vicent Mompó (Valencia), Marta Barrachina (Castellón), and Toni Pérez (Alicante)—met to discuss Mazón's replacement. A consensus candidate emerged from this meeting: Vicent Mompó, who has the support of the leadership in all three provinces and is positioning himself as the future Popular Party candidate. Mompó cannot be president of the Generalitat now because he is not a member of parliament, and therefore, Mazón would have to call early elections if he were to step down. This week, he stated that he was beginning a period of "reflection."

In its crusade against immigration, the far-right party has persuaded the conservatives to include indicators in the Valencian Statistics Plan that divide the population between nationals and immigrants on issues such as the use of healthcare, public aid, and even blood donation. In the words of Spanish government spokesperson Pilar Alegría, the objective is to "single out, stigmatize, and criminalize migrants." "I would call them hate lists," she denounced at a press conference from the Moncloa Palace on Tuesday, criticizing the policies of Alberto Núñez Feijóo's party as a "bad copy" of Vox.
