The board, it was announced on Friday, will not include any Palestinians and will be composed of, among others, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair; Secretary of State Marco Rubio; White House envoy Steve Witkoff; and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law. It will be chaired by Trump himself, according to the plan the White House presented in October. But, in a surprising move, this morning the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, explained that Trump has invited him to also be part of this body. Through his Twitter account, Milei wrote: "It is an honor for me to have received this evening the invitation for Argentina to join, as a founding member, the Peace Board, an organization created by President Trump to promote lasting peace in conflict-affected regions, starting with the Gaza Strip."

It would be the last conversation. At one point in the conversation about how he was experiencing the end of his life, he concluded: "It's all in the Iliad". Humankind endlessly demonstrates that it learns neither from fury nor from compassion. It was a Saturday morning, the sun was shining, and I was cutting the dead leaves of an aspidistra, a humble, slender plant that demands no attention and whose name he had taught me.

But what remains of the Gaza they knew? Homes, roads, schools, and fields have been replaced by tons of rubble. Ninety-two percent of homes have been destroyed or damaged, healthcare, water, sanitation, and hygiene systems have collapsed, and the majority of the population is under the maximum alert level due to famine. This scenario adds to the widespread shock caused by the deaths of more than 67,000 people and the displacement of nearly two million. The devastation is evident through satellite images.

Without the Palestinians, probably. Or, at best, with the Palestinians as second-class citizens in a territory destined to erase the remnants of the present horror and turn it into the "Eastern Mediterranean Riviera." as defined by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, a few months ago. Thus, the US administration is already working with international partners on a reconstruction plan for the Strip that, if ever implemented, could further redraw the enclave, currently an area of 360 square kilometers where, according to calculations by the United Nations April, 92% of homes have been destroyed or damaged, and where American estimates indicate that there are eleven thousand bombs that have not exploded.
