The United States has announced who will be on the so-called Peace Board that will oversee the reconstruction and new government of Gaza, a decision that demonstrates Donald Trump's desire to maintain influence in the Strip. The board, it was announced on Friday, will not include any Palestinians and will be composed of, among others, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair; Secretary of State Marco Rubio; White House envoy Steve Witkoff; and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law. It will be chaired by Trump himself, according to the plan the White House presented in October. But, in a surprising move, this morning the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, explained that Trump has invited him to also be part of this body. Through his Twitter account, Milei wrote: "It is an honor for me to have received this evening the invitation for Argentina to join, as a founding member, the Peace Board, an organization created by President Trump to promote lasting peace in conflict-affected regions, starting with the Gaza Strip."
