That in practice the new baccalaureate curriculum is not so decisive and that the veto on Catalan and island authors is partially neutralized. This is what Valencian universities are counting on: they hope that their ability to design the entrance exams (PAU), added to a broad interpretation of some articles of the new educational decree, will allow them to avoid the sidelining of Balearic and Principality writers promoted by the Valencian Ministry of Education. This is how members of the Catalan philology departments explained it to el ARA after the recent meeting with the Director General of Educational Planning of the Generalitat, Ignacio Martínez Arrúe.

The Valencian Courts will host this Friday an event organized by the Foundation for the Defense of the Spanish Nation (Denaes) and the parliamentary group of Vox —the party that presides over the autonomous chamber— which, under the title Valencian literature and Spanish tradition: from official Catalanism to silenced memory, seeks to denounce the supposed "instrumentalization of Valencian literature" carried out "by bipartisanship and nationalism". The conference will place the figures and work of the poet Vicent Andrés Estellés and the essayist Joan Fuster at the center of its target, whom they consider "central pillars of a literary and identity model" that would promote the implementation of a "process of cultural assimilation" and "symbolic colonization linked to Catalan nationalism".

Up to 205 Catalan departments in secondary schools across the Valencian Community have already signed a manifesto against the proposed changes to the high school curriculum decree, which aim to make the study of Catalan and Balearic Island writers optional. The teachers oppose the Education Ministry's intention to amend the sections of the current curriculum that refer to the unity of the Catalan language and establish the need to study its dialects and literary movements. Specifically, the Popular Party government, in agreement with Vox, intends to remove references to linguistic unity from the document and limit the subject matter to "the dialectal varieties of Valencian" and "the main Valencian authors." This is a key element, given that this document forms the basis from which universities must develop entrance exams for higher education and determine the works that students must know to pass them, a circumstance that, in practice, dictates what is studied in high school.

The mayoress of Valencia, María José Catalá, explained that, despite the ruling of the Valencian Language Academy (AVL) known on Saturday, which defends that the unique form with the open accent of the toponym of the city must be maintained, the consistory will move forward with the request to modify the denomination to include a bilingual version with Valencia in Castilian and a secessionist Valencian formula, Valéncia.

Having passed the period in which Carlos Mazón was most questioned, the PP intends to make people forget the crisis over the management of the DANA (National Association of Autonomous Communities) by confronting the Spanish government and stoking anti-Catalan sentiment. The Valencian conservatives have brought their identity-based agenda out of the drawer and, now that they need Vox's support for the Generalitat's budget, are preparing another attack on the unity of the Catalan language: removing Catalan and island authors from the school curriculum.
