Taking the practical driving test can be an ordeal in Catalonia. There are more than 70,000 students on waiting lists, and these figures are on the rise. Although this number corresponds to students who have passed the theoretical exam and does not mean they are ready to take the practical exam, it is an indicator that the system is unable to absorb the current demand. "More students are entering than those who take and pass the exam," says Raül Viladrich, president of the Federation of Driving Schools of Catalonia (FAC).

The head of citizen security for the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) in Figueres has been reported for having physically assaulted the manager of a driving school in Girona. The case came to light this Wednesday morning, when journalist Anna Punsí tipped him off via her X account. The attack by the police officer reportedly occurred on Tuesday afternoon following his daughter's failure in her practical driving test. After a verbal confrontation with the victim, the accused allegedly headbutted her, causing a centimeter and a half of swelling in her eyebrow. In a telephone conversation with ARA, the teacher explained that the officer and her daughter engaged in mock behavior after the attack: "Will you report a police officer?" Rosa Vilà reproached the girl.
