During this period, trials of women accused of witchcraft also intensified, with convictions and executions. Is there a cause-and-effect relationship between the two events, or was it simply a coincidence? For Agustí Alcoberro, professor of modern history at the University of Barcelona, ​​​​who has extensively researched witchcraft in Catalonia, this is no mere coincidence.
