I am interviewing the owner of the Vinyes Domènech winery (DO Montsant), Joan Ignasi Domènech (el Masnou, 1951), on a harvest day in the early morning hours. In addition to being immersed in work, these are also the September days in which he has organized the first Garnatxa Week, which has led him to contact nearly two hundred restaurants and wine shops throughout the country so that customers who drink a glass of garnatxa wine can participate in a contest whose prize is to visit the winery, enjoy tastings, and take part in contemplative activities. It is an activity that the Domènech family has invented, and they want it to last every year around September 18th. The winery produces a volume of 70,000 to 110,000 bottles depending on the vintage, and they export 20% to 30% of them to about fourteen countries. In 2024, Vinyes Domènech celebrated the twenty years of its first wine.

The Tarragona region is not only the country's breadbasket, but also, and especially, the most complex, diverse, and rich mosaic of vineyards in all of Catalonia, safeguarding our landscape and making it resilient. Perhaps that's why, from its inception, this supplement has been fueled by winemaking stories with deep roots and wings, reminding us monthly that wine is a delicious consequence of the human domestication of the vine and, intrinsically, the will to perpetuate a culture.

On October 20, 1879, Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) of Girona issued a statement certifying the entry of phylloxera into the Principality from France. The statement read: "Having carried out the optional inspection provided for in Article 7 of the Law of 30 July 1879, this commission has agreed to declare that a vineyard located in the Cuello de Fornells in the municipal district of Rabós has been invaded by phylloxera and to make said declaration public.Last June, Jordi Esteve, a local winemaker, installed a memorial sculpture in his winery—the first in Alt Empordà—commemorating this historic event. It will be inaugurated next Sunday during the Alberes Free Wine Fair, known as Contraban.

After more than thirty years of experience in front of and behind the camera, Joan Frank Charansonnet (The Valley of the Holy Cross, 1971) has found a long-standing role in Salvador Dalí. He had already played him in the theater and brought him to the cinema with The Angelus case, Dalí's fascination (2023), a film that explores the Empordà painter's obsession with Jean-François Millet's painting and which will now be released in more than seventy theaters in France.

Natural wine refers to wine made from grapes without adding or subtracting anything, or with minimal intervention by the winery. This is the most widely accepted definition of natural wine, a product that has grown in popularity over the last fifteen years, both in consumption and cultivation.
