This was the condition set by Mónica Oltra to return to the political front line and that her partners from Més —the coalition's sovereignist formation— have accepted, as the former vice-president of the Generalitat Valenciana's closest collaborators explained to ARA. Once the hurdle was overcome, the movements were unleashed and on Saturday Oltra announced that she accepted the offer to be the candidate for the Valencia City Council. A decision that confirmed her determination not to wait for her judicial situation to be resolved. "The times will no longer be marked by a court," the same sources had already told ARA last Septemberannounced last September by the same sources.

Does progressive sovereignty avoid discussing the management of migration flows and their impact on social cohesion, housing availability, or the marginalization of Catalan? Or, on the contrary, does conservative nationalism—intentionally or not—join in the criminalization of foreigners? Parties like Aliança Catalana and Vox are rising in the polls with an exclusionary discourse that prioritizes Catalans or Spaniards and often criminalizes immigrants. They also benefit from powerful platforms like Trumpism and its extensive media coverage. This growth has repercussions in neighboring territories.

If this result were to materialize, it would mean that the far right would double its number of seats and the Valencian nationalists would gain between 10 and 11 seats. The survey, which ARA has accessed, was conducted by the firm GFK between December 9 and 19, 2025, through 1,025 telephone and online inquiries, and has a margin of error of +/-3.1%. The poll was carried out before the Adamuz train accident and a year and a half before the elections. According to the poll results, Vox and Compromís would narrowly outperform the PP and the PSPV, who would win between 24 and 25 seats. The PP would obtain 23.3% of the vote and the PSPV 21.7%. Neither Podemos nor Izquierda Unida, which the poll presents separately, would come close to the 5% threshold required to gain representation in the Valencian Parliament.

Sumar, the citizens' movement launched by Yolanda Díaz in April 2023, hastily transformed into an electoral coalition for the June 23rd general election, aiming to unite progressives across Spain. However, nearly three years later, it has lost its initial momentum. Since its initial unity, the Sumar alliance has suffered an irreparable split with Podemos; the defection of part of Compromís; three electoral defeats in Galicia, the Basque Country, and the European elections; and has produced a diverse range of positions on key issues without achieving the desired appeal. Nevertheless, the left is not throwing in the towel and has joined forces to revitalize itself. For months, with particular emphasis in recent weeks, the Sumar Movement, United Left, Más Madrid, and Comunes—the four parties with representation in the cabinet—have been holding talks to carry out a necessary comprehensive update to the alliance in preparation for the upcoming general elections. However, the new horizon is emerging after Podemos has separated from him and Compromís has distanced itself from him, without a defined leadership and with deep doubts about the role that Yolanda Díaz should have.

Publicly, the Valencianists have always supported the progressive leader, but those around Oltra reproach them for this defense having occurred "only behind closed doors." Since June 21, 2022, the distance between the former vice president and her coalition partners has continued to grow. The gap has been widened by the fact that in recent years Más has consolidated its position of dominance over Compromís. Previously, the nationalists shared power with an Iniciativa party with far fewer members, but which enjoyed Oltra's electoral appeal. Now, however, they assert their majority, and the best example of how the mess is growing has been the split within the coalition in Congress. "She no longer feels represented by the current Commitment. And neither does Initiative," the same sources at ARA explain. Therefore, Mónica Oltra is now considering returning to the front line under the umbrella of another political project.
