A Colombian Air Force military transport plane crashed Monday morning near Puerto Leguízamo, in the department of Putumayo, in southern Colombia. The Hercules aircraft was carrying 125 people, mostly military personnel. Despite the magnitude of the accident, the death toll currently stands at eight. Eighty-three passengers sustained injuries, 14 of whom are in critical condition, according to authorities, who also indicated that the condition of the remaining 34 occupants is unknown. The accident occurred shortly after takeoff, as confirmed on social media by Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez Suárez.

A Cessna 550 model light aircraft crashed this Thursday in the Murphy Canyon neighborhood of San Diego, California, in a residential area that houses one of the largest military housing complexes in the world. City police confirmed that two people died and eight others were injured.
