The heat is exploding, and with it, one of the most pathetic phenomena of contemporary summer: criticizing those who criticize tourism during the year when their vacation time arrives and they are, in fact, actually doing tourism. It's such a blatant spectacle that it's hard to watch it without blushing: profiles circulating on social media photos of other individuals peacefully relaxing on the beach, supposedly grown-ups turned into spies. Naturally, this spectacle only betrays the concern of certain systemic forces regarding the possibility that a genuine awareness is taking place. After decades of enjoying unquestioned cultural prestige, a correct analysis has begun to spread of the ravages that a tourism model based on the importation of cheap labor has brought to our lives, from low productivity that becomes a covert subsidy for entrepreneurs to the plundering of scarce resources and the political potential of the city, breaking ties between neighbors. The criticism of tourism is so fair and accurate that it's spreading like an oil slick.

This year's edition will be held between August 15 and 21, and more than a hundred activities have already been scheduled, including concerts, popular culture events, exhibitions, and workshops. Furthermore, the confrontation between the Colla Vella de Diablos de Gracia and the Coordinadora de Colles de Cultura de Gracia, which last year shut down the festival, is now a distant memory. without the traditional correfoc, which is being revived this year, both for children and adults. The full program will be announced on August 8th.

Last April, the residents of the beautiful town of Sóller, in the Tramuntana Mountains, launched a campaign, Welcome to Sollerland, which has been joined by a dozen other municipalities, all with the same problem: the massive influx of tourists (not immigrants, but tourists) prevents residents from leading normal lives, to the point that moving around is impossible. These are Valldemossa, Santanyí, Artà, Inca, Alcudia, Caimari, Campanet, Pollença, and Banyalbufar, as reported by RTVE in the Balearic Islands. The campaigns add the suffix land behind the name of the municipality and spread images created with artificial intelligence in which we see places saturated with tourists whose aboriginal holds a cardboard sign like those of beggars in front of his chest: "I used to come here to have a coffee", "I used to be able to come and buy at that market", "I used to be able to do it at that market".
