A seven-year-old girl was killed on Sunday in Palma after a driver lost control of his car and mounted the sidewalk where she was walking with her mother and grandmother, who were injured. According to sources from the Palma Local Police, who are investigating the incident, the accident occurred around noon in the Coll d'en Rabassa neighborhood of the Mallorcan capital. The driver, a man in his fifties who was traveling with his wife and two children, drove onto the sidewalk for reasons that are still under investigation. He escaped injury but was taken to the hospital for tests.

During the last ten years there have been about 124,000 accidents involving vehicles and pedestrians in which more than 130,000 pedestrians have suffered injuries in Spain, according to the study by the Línea Directa Foundation and Fesvial entitled Walking safely: Pedestrian accidents and risks in Spain (2014-2023))17,000 of the affected pedestrians have had to be hospitalized, and 3,500 have died as a result of the accident, explains the report, based on data from the DGT (Directorate-General for Traffic), the National Institute of Toxicology, and responses to a survey of more than 1,700 pedestrians. This study also identifies the most dangerous street in Spain for pedestrians, where they are most at risk of being hit by a car. It is located in Barcelona: Gran Via, essential for mobility in the city center.

The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) are investigating a multiple hit-and-run on Saturday night in Granollers (Vallès Oriental) that left eight people injured, none of them seriously. For now, it is unknown whether the incident was intentional or accidental, according to sources within the force consulted by ARA, who have ruled out any hypothesis. At the moment, the police have also not been able to clarify what relationship exists between the victims and the suspect, whom they have not yet been able to locate for arrest. However, the suspect has been identified because eyewitnesses to the incident, as well as the injured themselves, gave the name of the driver, whom they already knew and recognized as he fled.

A bus struck two people this Thursday morning near the intersection of Gran Via Avenue and Balmes Street in Barcelona. The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. due to circumstances that remain unknown.

Of La Riera, only the name of the neighborhood remains. Roberto, 78, was born here in Cornellà de Llobregat, and remembers how his summers were spent bathing in the river and stealing fruit and vegetables from the crops that followed the water. Sources with access to the investigation consulted by this newspaper confirm that there was a first collision, which knocked down a woman, and that the driver –who is free on charges– stated that he accelerated due to confusion.

The duty court of Cornellà de Llobregat has released the detainee on charges for the multiple hit-and-run at the gates of the RCDE Stadium, minutes before the derby between Barça and Espanyol. According to the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), the woman is required to appear regularly in court. Furthermore, the judge revoked her driver's license and impounded her car. The court is keeping the case open for three offenses: one against road safety, one for disobedience, and one for injuries due to negligence, which will be classified once all the injured have received medical reports on the consequences of their injuries.
