There are up to 26 different marine habitats along the Catalan coast. However, until now, some were unknown, or, despite their existence, the exact location and size of their habitats had not been identified. To fill this historical information gap, a pioneering project was launched four years ago to produce a detailed x-ray of the Catalan seabed, which was presented this Thursday: the map of marine habitats of Catalonia. "For the first time, we have information on the entire Catalan coast, from Portbou to Alcanar," explained Sara Pont, head of the heritage planning service at the Department of Environmental Policies and Natural Environment.

The legal battles over the future of the Sitges Sea Club continue to advance. If on Monday the Supreme Court opened the door to studying the precautionary suspension of the demolition, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) ruled on Tuesday. The Catalan high court provisionally suspended the demolition of the building, which was scheduled for June 2nd to violate the coastal law. However, the Spanish government delegation in Catalonia has already announced that it will ask the court to maintain the demolition on the scheduled date.

During the process, the independence movement looked to European justice as the silver lining in the face of constant setbacks from the Spanish courts. However, as the lawsuits have arrived in Strasbourg, the European court has rejected them one by one. So much so that, so far, all those considered by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) have been dismissed, and this week it has rejected three related to the independence movement.
