The El Corte Inglés race held this Sunday through the streets of Barcelona has left us with images of the participants enjoying the sporting event and the good weather.

Thousands of people have filled the streets from the upper part of the city to Plaza Catalunya to participate in another edition of the now traditional Carrera de El Corte Inglés. This year, more than 50,000 people were registered for an edition that finally avoided the rain that fell on Saturday. With a sun that was gradually warming the city, the runners completed the 10 km route approved by the Catalan Athletics Federation.

Soon it will be May and, as every year, one of the most important sporting events in Barcelona is coming up: the El Corte Inglés Race. The 46th edition will be run on May 10th. This event, which has free registration, is recognized for supporting various Catalan solidarity organizations; this year, the linked entity will be the Cruyff Foundation. The circuit starts on Avinguda Diagonal (9 am) and finishes at Plaça Catalunya. The race runs along a 10-kilometer urban circuit that has been approved by the Catalan Athletics Federation, crossing important points of the city such as Passeig de Gràcia, Carrer Aragó, and Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes.

In an alleyway off an industrial estate in Sant Boi, we find the Josep Giménez Boilermaking Company, a family business. Josep, originally from El Prat de Llobregat, is the father of three siblings committed to the business and linked to the world of sports. The athlete from El Prat noticed the warehouse that would become the current family business during a spontaneous run in the area. In the larger office, a multitude of trophies certify an individual average of 100 half marathons, 10 marathons, and other sporting achievements achieved by father and daughter, both passionate about athletics. The office is too small for them, and consequently, they have boxes full of more awards at home.

One of Barcelona's most iconic races arrives this Sunday, May 11th, thanks to El Corte Inglés. There are 40,000 registered participants, up from 30,000 last year, and a now familiar route that will cross the city from Diagonal to Plaça Catalunya. This 45th edition will donate the funds raised to the Xana Foundation.
