Childhood is a stage of learning, not only about the world around us, but also about ourselves. Little ones, among other things, must learn to recognize and manage their emotions. As Vilma Montoliu, a naturopath and therapist, explains: coach specialized in conscious breathing and meditation in the book I am like the sea (Column, 2025), can meditation be a tool to help them in this process?

"It depends a bit on the children's age, because sometimes we ask them for behaviors they can't give us because their brains aren't yet ready to do them," Montoliu points out. She emphasizes that, by expressing their emotions, children aren't trying to annoy adults, but rather to communicate. "Some parents think they know their children just because they're their children, but they need to get used to asking them more questions. For example, if they notice they're angry, they can ask them if they have a cloud in their head and then tell them, perhaps with the help of stories and tales, why they feel that way." According to Montoliu, this will help them identify their emotions.

It's a rustic farmhouse where they focus on personalized service and take care of every detail, both in the house and in the activities they offer. In the field of school camps, for several years now, they've offered themed stays and educational projects so children and young people can make the most of this break in their daily lives. It's a transformation they've also had to undergo to adapt to changing regulations in the sector, which restrict certain activities and games to avoid risks, which affects the design of these stays.

You feel like you're at a disadvantage, like you're out of step. A feeling that children of foreign origin who study in our schools today know all too well. These are students whom the educational system has marginalized, which requires teachers to review and reflect on. We need to talk about racism in the classroom again, or at least that's the starting point of the book. When songs from home don't play at school (Eumo Editorial, 2025), by Marta Comas and Alfons Espinosa, presented this week at the Ona bookstore in Barcelona.

According to the Idescat (National Institute of Social Development), in recent years, the number of smaller families with only one child has increased, and the tendency to have two, but especially three, or more children has decreased. Job insecurity, new family patterns, and later marriages are some of the causes of this demographic trend. In this context, what happens when one partner wants more children and the other doesn't?

"3,700 euros is not enough? 500 euros, which they will have to pay back at the end of the quarter. So, that's about 3,000. That leaves 1,250. The self-employed, especially if they live outside Barcelona, need a car for work, which will cover many miles on the car loan, 100 on public transport, and gasoline. Toilets, soap for washing and washing, frozen foods, legumes, diapers, meat, canned goods, sausages... that's at least 100 euros. Let's imagine, and it's quite imaginative, that with this budget they can also buy fish or some candy for Saturday. Extras, like changing the car tires, city tax, a repair... have to come from here. Extra payments, in summer and at Christmas if they have a holiday, they don't get any savings capacity for the dry months and can't take vacations. Two children are in diapers and do extracurricular activities, a support teacher.

The initiative, aimed at students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades of primary school in all public and subsidized schools in Catalonia, as well as esplais, casales, and listening groups in the country, sought a song in Catalan, original in lyrics and music, that was intended to be sung in a group and that dealt with children's rights in general or with a right.
