On opening night, Maria José Balañá, manager of three large Barcelona theaters, was in the audience. She was captivated and felt a strong desire that this talent and effort wouldn't die there. "I thought it was amazing. There's talent, there's hard work, there's a brutal intensity. As we were leaving, I told them, 'If you want to revive it, count us in.'" Bitò's producer, Josep Domènech, also attended: "I was blown away. It's emotion, it's magic, it's fantastic," he says. He immediately looked for who was behind it and called them: "If you ever want to do it in a private theater, let's talk." Andreu Buenafuente and Sílvia Abril also attended, and they were "blown away." They asked Mercè Puy, the producer at El Terrat, who had known the project from the beginning, to fight to bring it back.

It's the story of a group of friends who have known each other since they were 16 years old thanks to musical theater and who dreamed of putting on a Broadway-style show of their own creation, in Catalan, and in the Sala Gran of the Teatro Nacional. It took them more than 25 years, but they succeeded: they opened last season at the TNC with a production featuring 10 musicians and 18 performers that received praise from all quarters.

Considered a classic of the genre, the show has been performed uninterruptedly in the United States and the United Kingdom for over 30 years, but until now, no one had ever brought it to Catalonia in its entirety. The first to do so is the production company Lets Go, in a project spearheaded by Antonio Banderas, performed in Spanish and already on the bill for the last two years in Madrid. It will now run at the Tívoli Theatre in Barcelona from September 23rd to February 1st of next year.

Already considered a living legend of dance, the choreographer has returned to Spain fifteen years after his self-imposed exile and has confirmed once again that his aura, and that of his works, remains intact. The Nation of the Prisoner, for its youth, brings it closer to the new generations, and on Wednesday, a large part of the audience was one of them. A song of joy and freedom, and of bodies and souls that want, glide, and project themselves, driven by the music. Encouraged by their youth and admirable technique, this fifteen dancers give themselves over to the dance body and soul, with an excellent result. Gnawa opened the evening with its ode to Mediterranean interculturality, with six couples letting themselves be carried away by traditional Greek, North African, and Flemish sounds in a game of organic movements reminiscent of Greek art; the pas de deux Freedom overcomes the ancestral Haitian slavery to the rhythm of voodoo drums and bells; and Elf, a fresh choral work that preserves an exquisite elegance coming from the music of Debussy, transforms bodies into shapes and sculptures in movement (whoever wants to recover Enclosed garden You can still do so in Terrassa and Sant Cugat on May 10 and 11, respectively).
