The Catalan government, through the Catalan Energy Institute (Icaen), has increased the budget by 73.5 million euros – it was initially 62 million. Moves III program of 2025, aimed at promoting the purchase of electric vehicles and the installation of charging points. This Moves III program will end this Wednesday, December 31st.

Starting today, individual buyers, companies and various local public administrations can now request and start the process to obtain the necessary subsidies for the Moves III plan. The plan, which will be in effect until December 31, mobilizes a total of €400 million in aid for the purchase of electric vehicles and the installation of electric car charging stations, but the budget transfer corresponding to Catalonia will ultimately amount to €65 million of the initial allocation. These grants are managed by the various regional administrations, and in the case of Catalonia, the responsible body is the Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN), which will apply the management model established by state regulations.

Spain is one of the European Union states with the lowest percentage of electric car registrations, around 5% of the total for several years now. To encourage electric vehicle registrations, the Spanish government has developed the Moves program, a plan of aid and incentives for electric car buyers. This program has caused headaches for many users and results in a waiting period of around a year and a half between the purchase of the vehicle and the receipt of aid and subsidies.
