The fifth chamber of the Administrative Litigation of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has issued a precautionary measure that obliges the Parliament of Catalonia to display the flag of Spain outside the building in an "immediate and permanent" manner. The decision comes in light of the fact that, until now, the state flag and the Catalan flag only flew together on the facade on plenary days, as acknowledged by the report of the chamber's own legal counsel.

The Fifth Chamber of the Administrative Court of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has issued an injunction requiring the Parliament of Catalonia to display the Spanish flag on the exterior of its building "immediately and permanently." The decision comes in response to the fact that, until now, the Spanish and Catalan flags were only flown together on the façade on days when plenary sessions were held, as acknowledged in the report prepared by the Parliament's own legal counsel.

"Long live Spain and long live the king." With timpani, trumpets blasting, and eighty soldiers, the swearing-in ceremony of the Spanish flag was held this Saturday in Calonge and Sant Antoni, a municipality governed by a Junts mayor, Jordi Soler. The "Thank you, Mayor" said by the army commander in the province of Girona, Colonel Javier Gómez Yagüe, however, did not refer to Soler. He was referring to Alberto Mas Vilà, a PP councilor and member of the governing team, who was acting mayor this Saturday and the highest civil authority present. He organized the swearing-in ceremony, pulling all the strings to secure permission from the City Council to use the Palau Firal for the occasion, the eve of Hispanic Heritage Day. That's why the City Council seal appeared on the posters announcing the event.

80.5% of Catalan town halls lack the Spanish flag on their facades, according to the pro-Spanish organization Impulso Ciudadano. Of the 947 Catalan municipalities, 763 do not display the state flag, and only 184 do (19.5%). This is evident from the report released this Monday by the organization, which is working to ensure compliance with the flag law. This percentage represents a two-point increase compared to 2022, when 170 (17.9%) displayed the Spanish flag.
