They allow us to understand evolution, the history of the Earth, and the existence of already extinct species, such as the mammoth. An animal that coexisted and interacted with humans for thousands of years, it is essential to know more about it now that our planet is facing great challenges that inevitably recall the conditions suspected to have contributed to its disappearance, such as the climate crisis or human action.

These remains make this Andalusian site the richest in Europe in fossils of this type of extinct elephant, in addition to having fossils of at least three mammoths, rhinoceroses, two species of three-toed horses, antelopes, giant bones and the last cofe.

These mice were created by a privately held biotechnology company, Colossal, which aims to de-extinct species, has set its sights on the mammoth. Aside from the obvious appeal to potential investors, why the mammoth and not any other species? According to the company, They intend to contribute to repopulating the Arctic tundra with mammoths., and solve the problem of the release of CO₂ by permafrost, which would contribute to combating climate change.
