On November 5th, the map of digital terrestrial television (DTT) will change both in Catalonia and in the rest of the State. Here, TV3 will launch, in test mode, the broadcast in ultra-high definition (UHD) on the second regional multiplex, a package of channels that share a frequency and which became empty with the closure of 8TV in 2023. It will be the second regional television station to broadcast in UHD, after the Galician TVG, which has been doing so since March 2025.

DTT (digital terrestrial television) is reinventing itself. The Spanish government has approved a new National Technical Plan that seeks to shake up free-to-air television, with two important innovations: a new free-to-air television channel will be created, and the definitive step toward ultra-high definition (UHD) broadcasts will be taken.
