The State has an industry law that dates back to 1992. It is a regulation that, in the eyes of the industrial sector, has become obsolete, especially in a context marked by geopolitical tensions and the questioning of the global order's playing field, and this situation has pushed the European Union to move towards strategic autonomy in order not to depend on other powers.

At a time marked by the tension in the global energy market due to the war in the Middle East, the large electricity-consuming industry in the State makes a united plea to reduce its electricity bill. The fuel, automotive, paper, chemical and pharmaceutical, food, cement, mineral raw materials, automotive components and steel sectors posed together this Thursday in Madrid, at the headquarters of the Spanish employers' association CEOE, to present their recipe for reducing industrial electricity costs by between 10% and 30%. Specifically, they propose five tax measures that they consider "indispensable" to have access to "affordable" electricity for Spanish industry and that is also "competitive" compared to other European partners, which, in the sector's opinion, "would curb" relocation processes.

"In the age of machines, perhaps we should think about this: humans know things and so do machines, but they don't know them the way humans know them, although, depending on how, they know them better. The fact is that it's not just what is known that's important, but also how it is known," wrote philosopher Josep Maria Terricabras in his book Dare to think, published in 1998. Artificial intelligence was not yet being discussed, but the thinker was already advocating the need for tools and aids to think better and reflected on the "usefulness of rigorous thinking in everyday life," as the book's subtitle stated. It was this book that inspired the awards named after Manel Xifra Boada, founder of Comexi, one of the largest companies in Catalonia, a world leader in the flexographic printing machinery construction sector, which today exports 90% of its production, with an annual turnover of more than 100 million euros.
