Hundreds of dolmens and megalithic remains, used as burial sites by primitive civilizations, are preserved, scattered throughout the natural surroundings of the Albera region and the Empordà plain. Now, a new discovery of great historical value has been discovered: the Bufadors dolmen, in the heart of the Cap de Creus Natural Park, just over an hour's walk from Port de la Selva, towards Cadaqués. It measures about four meters long by one and a half meters high and dates from the late Neolithic period, around 2700 BC.

The unexpected death of a local couple, owners of a dozen bars, beach bars, and restaurants in the municipality, has led to the sudden closure of all their seafront businesses. The woman, 68, committed suicide last June, and the man, 71, attempted suicide a month later, leaving him seriously injured and dying at the end of August while admitted to Girona's Trueta Hospital. They had been linked to the area for almost three decades, and their establishments represented approximately 20% of the establishments in this small, whitewashed village in the Alto Empordà region, at the foot of Cap de Creus. The Café de la Marina, famous for the play of the same name by Josep Maria de Segarra, was one of the most iconic. It now has an empty terrace and a sign hanging on the door reading "temporarily closed."

The Llançà and Port de la Selva coastal path, approximately 5 km long, connects these two seaside towns at the foot of Cap de Creus, passing by well-sheltered coves, rugged cliffs, and the point of Far de s'Arnella. At many points, the path borders small residential areas and chalets built in the last century, before the coastal law, but it also passes through several unspoiled stretches, without a single house in sight. On one of these natural plots, on a slope of the Sant Pere de Rodes mountain range, next to the last buildings in the urban area of Llançà, the Lanzarote City Council has given the go-ahead to build 90 homes. This is the Super Fener area, which occupies nine plots of approximately 8 hectares, next to the boundaries of the natural park. The council has obtained the approval of the relevant bodies, and the first excavators have already begun work to prepare the land. SOS Costa Brava and Iaeden-Salvem el Empordà, however, have shown themselves radically opposed to this new real estate development: they claim that their objections have not been taken into account and threaten to file an administrative lawsuit with the aim of halting the works.
