Last year, the pro-independence left disrupted the far-right party's event when a hundred young anti-fascists burst in shouting and insulting, but this year the event took place without incident. The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) deployed riot police at all entrances and blocked the passage of the forty members of Arran who wanted to access the Fossar. The young anti-fascists were only able to unfurl a banner on Passeig del Born reading "At the Fossar de les Moreres we bury the traitors, we turn the far right," while the event proceeded normally.

Since its creation, it has established itself and consolidated its position as one of the main political actors in the country's student centers. Now, however, a new movement is challenging its position, including within the CUP (Union of Left-Wing Workers' Union), its institutional representative. During this academic year, the Socialist Youth Organization (OJS), a split from Arran, has increased its presence in Catalan universities, organizing educational events and participating in actions against far-right acts. It has also redoubled its presence on the streets, gathering nearly a thousand people in Badalona at the beginning of the month to protest against the rise of fascism and has amplified its criticism of the CUP (Union of Left-Wing Workers' Union), which it considers "a crutch" for the institutional left-wing parties. By region, this new movement is making its mark in neighborhoods of Barcelona and also in the city of Mataró, unlike in Central Catalonia, where the traditional pro-independence left remains stronger.

The latest research of The Direct, published this Tuesday, reveals that a National Police agent spent just over two years infiltrated activism in Lleida, around the pro-independence left. Under the false identity of Joan Llobet Garcia, and graduating from the Ávila Police School just a year before starting the espionage operation, the agent landed in the capital of Segrià in September 2019 and left in November 2021. During this time he was actively involved in the SANT protests against the Proceso sentence (2019) and those in support of the Lleida rapper Pablo Hasél.
