Surrounded by the top brass of Junts, former president Jordi Pujol received a major tribute this Saturday to his political legacy at the hands of the Joventut Nacionalista de Catalunya (JNC). In Planoles, a symbolic municipality for the Junts youth wing, Pujol launched a powerful message in favor of immigrant integration, which was heard by the President of the Parliament, Josep Rull; the Junts general secretary, Jordi Turull; the deputy to the presidency, Albert Batet; the president of the parliamentary group, Mònica Sales; and the Barcelona municipal leader, Jordi Martí; as well as former convergent leaders such as former minister Irene Rigau, Jordi Xuclà, Marta Pascal and Carles Campuzano, who is now an ERC deputy. Pujol stressed that Catalans have the duty "to maintain the language, to transmit a culture, to integrate people who come from outside and to bring them together", as well as to "work hard and not give up".

Spanish President Pedro Sánchez is deeply dividing Catalan political identity today. In the post-independence era, without a pro-independence majority, the big question is what to do with the Spanish government: whether to block it or negotiate with it. Without any criticism of their past actions, former Catalan presidents José Montilla, Artur Mas, Carles Puigdemont, and Pere Aragonès clashed over Sánchez and unity in a colloquium on Catalan identity this Thursday. Because they quickly reached an agreement on Catalan identity in theory, but when it comes to putting it into practice, everything changes.

Ariadna Urroz (Sant Just Desvern, 1994) has been a member of the Junts party in the Catalan Parliament since July. She arrives in the Catalan parliament, replacing David Saldoni, who is leaving politics. She is a member of the party's national executive and, until a few days ago, was also secretary general of the Catalan Nationalist Youth (JNC), a position she held in 2023.
