Now, the courts have ruled in favor of the two Gambian boys. The age tests carried out by the Public Prosecutor's Office to determine their age, which led the former Directorate General for Child and Adolescent Care (DGAIA) to expel them from children's centers, were invalid. Lassana and Bakary's are just two cases. But there are many more scattered throughout the region. In the city of Girona, there are already two other court rulings, and in La Garrotxa, for example, there have been about ten in recent months.

Protests and even attacks against centers for minors and migrants have multiplied throughout Spain. The most notable was the incident in Torre Pacheco, but there have also been attacks against centers for minors in Vallirana (with Molotov cocktails), in Marcilla (Navarra), riots in Piera (where incendiary devices were also thrown in May), in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), and in Sabadell, and persecutions in Hernani (Guipúzcoa). In San Sebastián, "hunts" for North African and African people have been organized through a Telegram group. These are just a few of the cases. We thus find ourselves following in the wake of Europe, which has been mired for some time in a crisis of vigilantism where the rise in violence against migrants, and especially North African minors, seems unstoppable.

Before that, however, she will have to obtain her papers and even acquire Spanish nationality. For now, at 17, after four years in Catalonia, she is waiting for her case to be resolved, once her father has regularized his status and can begin the process of obtaining family roots for his two children, while her mother must follow a separate procedure. "Not having papers makes you feel different, because you so often feel like there's an invasion of illegal immigrants!" says this young woman, who only thinks "about the future" and has never been able to return to her country of origin, not even when a grandmother died. The Spanish government agreed on certain criteria with Junts in exchange for its favorable vote, the only one still pending to approve the legislation, given that the PP is locked in a band. Carles Puigdemont's party voted in favor. The royal decree, which has been in force since its approval by the Council of Ministers, gave the regions a deadline to provide data on reception capacity. Some have provided "incomplete" information, according to the Ministry of Children and Youth, such as Madrid and Extremadura, while others have not provided any at all.
