It is the painting <em>Portrait of Elisabeth Lederer</em>The painting, which the Austrian artist created between 1914 and 1916, depicts the young heiress and daughter of Klimt's employers dressed in a Chinese kimono. The work sold for €203.56 million at an auction held at Sotheby's in New York.</p>]]></description>

It is for sale by the Austrian gallery Wienerroither & Kohlbacher for 15 million euros, one of the highest prices. The history of the painting is marked by Nazism: the owner in the 1930s, Ernestine Klein, of Jewish origin, had to flee Vienna and took refuge in Monaco.
