At 56, he turned to professional writing at the insistence of his wife, Pascaline, and in 2014 he won the prestigious <a href="https://llegim.ara.cat/llegim/pierre-lemaitre-bromera-salamandra_1_2870066.html" >Goncourt Prize</a> because of the novel <em>See you up there</em> (Bromera), which catapulted him to fame and became the first part of a trilogy about the interwar period. When the <a href="https://llegim.ara.cat/actualitat/pierre-lemaitre-mentides-arruinen-democracia_1_1072603.html" >end</a>The author began a tetralogy dedicated to the period of the Thirty Glorious Years. However, he explains that he has never enjoyed writing as much as he is now with the feuilleton sagas. He won the Goncourt Prize in 2013 with the novel <em>We'll see you up there.</em>, the first of an interwar saga that continued with <em>The colors of the fire</em> (2018) and<em> </em><a href="https://llegim.ara.cat/actualitat/pierre-lemaitre-mentides-arruinen-democracia_1_1072603.html" ><em>The mirror of our sorrows</em></a><a href="https://llegim.ara.cat/actualitat/pierre-lemaitre-mentides-arruinen-democracia_1_1072603.html" > (2020)</a>His account of the 20th century continued with a new documentary series: <a href="https://llegim.ara.cat/entrevistes/pierre-lemaitre-entrevista-corrupcio-financera-motors-novelles-policiaques_128_4629347.html" ><em>The big world</em></a> (2023),<em> Silence and rage</em> (2024) and now <em>A radiant future</em>, all published by Salamandra and Bromera with a Catalan translation by Núria Busquet. Lemaitre continues the story of the Pelletier family in a new adventure set between Paris and Prague in 1959, at the height of the Cold War.</p>]]></description>
