The romantic comedy by Rufián and Giró

https://en.ara.cat/media/the-romantic-comedy-by-rufian-and-giro_129_5736254.html

Tuesday night, on Cara al show on La Sexta, Marc Giró interviewed Gabriel Rufián. The difference in communication pace between the two caused a certain expectation. It was necessary to see how Giró's machine-gun delivery would fit against the politician's discursive parsimony. But they soon achieved an apparently spontaneous harmony. The presenter lowered his pace and Rufián increased his. To vary, the spicy comments served to foster a connection. The program recovered an old interview on El intermedio where the ERC deputy confessed to having had an erotic dream about Marc Giró. The anecdote served as the perfect excuse to play at building sexual tension between the two. Weeks ago, Rufián stated that he preferred filling tiktoks rather than libraries. It was a way of admitting that politics no longer circulates from intellectuality but from emotionality and spectacle. And, consistent with his thesis, he gave his all. He explained that he pees sitting down and that a fan took a photo of him on the toilet. He confessed that he was an admirer of David Bisbal and Marta Sánchez. He admitted that he never sleeps on the AVE because he is afraid of being photographed and becoming a meme. He explained that he wears red underwear because it brings him luck and that he sleeps naked. He is an expert at cooking potato omelets in competitions and is methodical in his facial routine. At night he puts on a mask and during the day a little makeup to look better. When flirting with Giró, he let him know that he had never had a homosexual relationship. Nevertheless, Rufián stimulated the fantasy of a romantic comedy between the two of them. A violinist even appeared to create a more sensual atmosphere, and they said goodbye with a kiss on the lips, with more impetus from the politician than from the presenter. It was an erotic-festive interview typical of a late night. In this context, the politician abandons his role as an institutional representative to become a character. Rufián is a master at this. It is a spectacle to enhance charisma, presenting himself as likeable and approachable at a very decisive point in his career. It is legitimate to wonder if the same interview could be conducted with a politician from the right – or far-right – and if the public would perceive it in the same way. At what moments do we humanize political leaders and at what moments do we whitewash them. Likeability, entertainment, and slightly risqué anecdotes deactivate the viewer's critical gaze. Rufián was not innocent either. He tried to shed his label as a heterobasic man to deconstruct his masculinity and make it contemporary and sensitive. Everything is useful when recruiting followers. At a time when television is increasingly designed to be promoted through viral clips, the program was a factory of moments to fill tiktoks.

https://en.ara.cat/media/marc-giro-rides-through-sexta_129_5715449.html

On the back of a majestic white horse. Marc Giró appears like this in the opening credits of his new La Sexta program. And like this he also entered the studio to start the show. Like a conqueror or a knight. A contemporary Saint George to fight against the dragons of our time: fascism, racism, sexism, homophobia, and whatever else is convenient, but always with a sense of showmanship. Giró recalled that everyone had insisted he not change when he moved to work for the private channel. Even Pedro Sánchez. Therefore, the start of the program was focused on demonstrating that he has not softened his combative and sharp spirit. So much so that perhaps he prolonged the opening monologue too much so that it wouldn't seem like he was backing down. But, sometimes, less is more. The speech led, luckily, to a cabaret number. To the rhythm of Tamara's "No cambié", Giró sang, danced, an orchestra appeared, a whole choir and a dance troupe lifted him as if he were a showgirl from the old days. Leonardo Dantés even appeared fleetingly to give a more delirious air to the opening party. All of this, a kind of pocket "Berghain" with the evident stamp of Santi Villas, co-director of the program. Beyond changing the color of the curtains, now the channel's corporate green, Cara al show maintains the characteristics and essence of the Late show" from public television. The big difference are the cruel commercial breaks of the private channel, which interrupt the content abruptly and hit us with ads five at a time. With a program that starts so late, these breaks are killers. Of course, when they mentioned the Thermomix, they pixelated the robot's photo and covered the word with a whistle, lest the ad not go through the cash register. Censorship, sometimes, comes in the most unheard-of ways. In the program, an improvement in the budget was also sensed: between the horse, the string orchestra, the dancers, the choir, and the opera singer, the premiere's expenditure was noticeable. Giró turned Estopa into the godparents of the program. The Muñoz brothers always work due to their spontaneity and friendliness. Next, we again suffered a new promotional dose of the things of the omnipresent Jordi Évole. These are those exchanges of "I interview you and you interview me" to feed the business. The journalist was accompanied by the actor Eduardo Casanova to announce the documentary Sidosa, which combats the stigma of HIV. The performer stated during the interview that one in a hundred people in Spain was infected with the virus. But the data was incorrect. The prevalence in Spain is 0.3% and not 1%, as he stated. No one corrected him. The problem is that this is the second time Eduardo Casanova has given erroneous information about HIV on a television program. With this capacity for dissemination, with every wash, we lose a sheet.

Following the path of the Late show that until a few months ago he did on La 1, Giró premieres Cara al show, a weekly interview program that will always include a "reivindicative" monologue, according to the network. The godparents of the first episode, which airs from 11:00 PM, will be Estopa, who have already appeared in the program's promotions recorded inside an elevator, one of the hallmarks of the now defunct public television program that is also used in Cara al show. The new space is produced in Catalonia, specifically from Terrassa.

The Catalan presenter is already preparing Cara al Show, his new humor and entertainment program, which will air on La Sexta after Easter. After the news and his appearance on El hormiguero, this Monday a double interview with Jordi Évole was broadcast on the program Lo de Évole. One of the most notable moments of the interview was when Évole surprised Giró with a live call to the central government president, Pedro Sánchez. The three of them chatted for more than eight minutes, and Giró did not miss the opportunity to challenge Sánchez to appear on his new program.

https://en.ara.cat/media/marc-giro-knocks-out-pablo-motos_129_5672996.html

Last Thursday, Marc Giró went to have fun on El hormiguero to promote the premiere of his next program on La Sexta. The one who didn't have such a good time was Pablo Motos, who after a few minutes already seemed to regret the meeting. Giró appeared on the set like a miura when they open the corral gates in San Fermín. The impact of the hug was an allegory of how much Pablo Motos would end up suffocated by the intensity of the guest. Giró's charges, intentional and disguised as theatricality, served to warn that he was willing to drown out any proclamation that is made on this program.Giró entered with overflowing joy but launching preemptive attacks to mark territory. As soon as he sat down, he compared the guests' past to a gay sauna. “I didn't know Atresmedia was so faggoty, please!” Giró resorted to a metaphor that, at first, Motos liked: “The two Spains are together here! What Arturo Pérez-Reverte hasn't achieved with Uclés, you have achieved with me! Because you are a seducer!” Giró has the savoir-faire of the most trained aristocracy: he even knows how to joke with the least sympathetic interlocutor. He appealed to the supposed “fascists of El hormiguero” as a rumor. “I haven't met any yet! I have a desire to meet the famous fascist of El hormiguero!” Giró repeatedly invoked the fascists of Atresmedia as if they were a legend or ghosts that needed to be checked if they really existed. Motos was so disoriented and uncomfortable, speechless, that the plush ants appeared ahead of time from under the table to help him deal with this beast that was challenging them. The rag dolls didn't get their play right either. As soon as they poked their heads out, Giró greeted the ants by recalling a colleague who arrived at work one morning explaining that she had fucked a program ant. Motos was in shock at a guest who spent more time promoting anal sex than the program he is to premiere after Easter. “What did you want to ask me about Pedro Sánchez?”, Giró forced, exhibiting his fervor for the Spanish president, and aware that he was breaking with the ideological purpose ofEl hormiguero: “You are very subtle with Pedro Sánchez and very not subtle with the far-right!” In front of a Motos in a state of shock, an ant had to come out to announce that “on this program we are all against fascism”. It's curious that a program needs to emphasize it for it to be clear.Giró displayed all his potential as a showmanand proved the success of his signing. In passing, it seemed that Giró, with his repertoire of incisive comments on politics and sexuality, was checking on air the limits of Atresmedia's tolerance and the margin he has to express himself. A very symptomatic fact, however, was the practical disappearance of the fervent claque of the program's audience. The applause, with Marc Giró, was not activated much. And more than a casual fact, it should be interpreted, between the lines, as a warning.

Giró shouted out the cause of this anguish: "The persecution of the Spanish male!" . Giró wondered: "Who persecutes the Spanish male? Gender ideology, which prevents you from displaying your manhood.Giró developed a whole discourse that sought to highlight the plight of Iberian men, who, whenever they displayed their virility, were besieged by women carrying a false accusation of domestic violence in their teeth. Sarcastically, Giró appealed to the bad luck of these individuals, considering that the index in Spain was reproducing a very sad pattern.A migrant persecuted by a Spanish man who is in turn persecuted by a feminist". Every time he exposed this chain of persecution, the three characters ran in front of him trying to catch each other.

To a user who told him that he was "Catalan quota, LGTBI quota, caviar left quota and bourgeois quota preppy", the presenter replied: "It seems short to me. I'm missing an anti-racist quota, a pro-Palestinian quota, a pro-Saharawi quota, an animal rights quota, an anti-bullfighting quota, a vegan quota, a fan of Rocío Carrasco quota, a quota queer and Social Security contributions because I am in favor of paying taxes to finance feminist shacks."

He began by highlighting the news about the vote in the Valencian Community allowing families to choose which language their children want to be educated in, Spanish or Valencian. The presenter warned that this was a strategy to eliminate Valencian from the classroom. He then pointed out that it was all a result of the animosity many people feel toward the Catalan language and Catalans in general. Giró then began a plea in favor of Catalan and against all those who believe that speaking it is useless: "Catalan is useful for so many things. It's useful for everything you set your mind to. It's useful for everything, everything, everything... Catalan is useful for arguing, for loving, for healing. It's good in Catalan! Catalan is useful for fucking.. He then went on to list everything you can ask for in Catalan: a mortgage, a job, alms, or mercy. Even independence. Or not ask for it and do it in Catalan. And to demonstrate the functionality of Catalan, he showed that it can be used to welcome its Late showAnd so he did.
