Calórica isn't going to change the world. Nor does it intend to. And deer don't bellow when you want them to, but when they want to. Calórica is an expert in ironic comedy that laughs at those looking for a unique experience to solve their marital problems. It's also funny at the theater people who at some point thought, following the poet's words ("poetry is a weapon loaded with the future"), that the stage was a tool for social transformation and political change.

Anyone who regularly follows La Calòrica knows that, for some time now, every show they release involves racing to get tickets before they sell out. The congress does not march no at the Teatre Lliure de Gràcia and some spectators regretted that the production was not scheduled for the Fabià Puigserver Hall of the Teatre Lliure de Montjuïc, with a much larger capacity. If it weren't for the fact that the management of the Lliure has changed (in 2023 it was Juan Carlos Martel, in 2024 he took over Julio Manrique), one might think that two years later there is a response to that demand because La Calórica has finally entered its first large cinema.

Perhaps there is no other theater company in our country that in recent years has generated as much cult as La Calérico. A follow-up that is not limited to the most dedicated theaters, and that has to do with a committed and risky conception of the performing arts that, however, is situated at the antipodes of any elitist aura. There is a popular vocation in the company's works, in the humorous records that they work (in the audience, sometimes they laugh with a spontaneity more typical of the Paral·lel than of the Lliure), in the people who claim it, and in the themes always related to problems that affect the great majority, even from the climate change to the crisis of Europe with a political project passing through the furor for entrepreneurship.

Calórica has established itself as one of the most prestigious and successful theatre companies in the country. With their own stamp, they have made comedy a tool to create ambitious, well-crafted theatre, with discourse, political commitment and a social outlook. This intelligent and heartbreaking combination has allowed them to fill theatres and sell out. It is logical that their impact has led them to television. The 3Cat platform has just released their first series, Multipurpose room, a comedy of six twenty-minute chapters that takes place in a room in a civic center where different activities take place. Each episode is an independent story: a workshop on survival techniques, some classes on voguing, a playroom for families with children, a pottery workshop or a meeting of fans of a cartoon are some of the situations that lead to the meeting of anonymous people, very different from each other, who must live together in the same space. This is the trigger for unusual circumstances that allow us to address current issues such as loneliness, aggression, prejudice, intolerance, injustice or fear from very everyday approaches. The most personal becomes universal.
