Among the artist's three favorite words, the vast majority of ARA readers agree on including [words]. whisper at the top. In an Instagram poll, 70% chose this word, far ahead ofshelter (20%) and belly button (10%). But why is that quorum with the word whisperAnd why do we choose our favorite words?

Complaints are common on social media because announcers, journalists, and audiovisual communicators do not pronounce the sound of the double ela correctly in Catalan. This is a reflection of what happens very often on the street: if you listen closely, it seems that fewer and fewer Catalan speakers pronounce this sound as [y] lateral more or less open, or even with other sounds that are similar. yet either get instead of milk, or fall, coya, yogurt, podiastro, etc. Why? Are these just one-offs or an evolutionary shift in the language?

A study by Pompeu Fabra University has analysed how bilingual people of different ages speak Catalan and Castilian. Using linguistic structures that are different in the two languages, it has analysed what comes out naturally to speakers. The conclusion is that while adults are unsure of how to use these expressions correctly and alternate between correct and incorrect usage, 75% of young people (7-13 years old) have no doubt that the formula they would use is Castilian, even among those who have Catalan as their mother tongue.
