The former head of the Valencian government wants to lead the party again and be its electoral figurehead, and he has seen the perfect opportunity: the recent appointment of Juanfran Pérez Llorca as president of the GeneralitatHe believes the politician from Finestrat is a weak leader, lacking both the legitimacy of the ballot box and the support of the party's members. That's why he's demanding that the rank and file be given a voice at a party congress. His potential rivals—Lorca himself and the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, who are the frontrunners—remain silent and loyal to the party headquarters in Madrid. At the party headquarters on Génova Street, they're asking for time. First, they want to consolidate Llorca's leadership, then assess whether he can stop the flow of votes to Vox, and if not, promote Catalá as his replacement or evaluate whether there's a better candidate among their list of mayors. The person most afraid of Feijóo's influence is Camps. He believes his chances lie in stirring up debate and giving the grassroots a voice. He's even calling for a congress "on the American model," allowing supporters to vote, as well as members who have stopped paying their dues. He justifies this deference by saying they have been "very neglected" in recent months. He said so last week at the presentation of his campaign team, which does not include any prominent leaders. In fact, the most relevant figure is Inés Peiró, a councilwoman from the municipality of La Pobla de Vallbona. A person with no influence within the party. "Our party is now an inverted pyramid with few members and many positions," the former president complained.

On May 28, 2023, the Valencian People's Party (PP) experienced a historic election night under the leadership of Carlos Mazón and María José Catalá. The PP ended eight years of Botànic's rule in the Generalitat (Valencian regional government) and ousted Joan Ribó from the City Council, who had also served two terms. Amid the euphoria at party headquarters, Mazón kissed Catalá. It was one of the iconic images of the day. And it is precisely this image that Compromís (the Valencian regional coalition) is now using in plenary sessions to denounce the mayor's support for the head of the Consell (the regional government), despite his negligent handling of the DANA (isolated high-altitude depression). They used to use it, at least until now, because Catalá has blocked them. On Tuesday, during his speech at the plenary session, Compromís councilor Giuseppe Grezzi placed a poster on the lectern with the image and the slogan "20/11. Neither forget nor forgive," referring to the delayed issuance of the alert to the public on that fateful day, after two people had already lost their lives. The mayor ordered Grezzi to remove it, but the councilor refused. It was then that Catalá brandished a report from the legal services department stating that posters and banners could not be displayed, even though Compromís had displayed them on other occasions without incident. "It's a tailor-made report that the municipal secretary prepared on Friday with the aim of preventing us from displaying it again at the plenary session," denounced Compromís councilor Lucía Beamud in statements to ARA. In the previous plenary session, on October 28th, Grezzi had already placed the poster on the lectern, and Catalá couldn't make him remove it because the plenary's internal regulations only restrict the public from displaying posters, banners, or signs. Now, she has extended that prohibition to the municipal groups. "Just as the attendees can't do it, neither can we. Or do you think you have more rights than the rest of the citizens?" Catalá angrily questioned to justify her decision, after she had twice called Grezzi to order and he refused to remove the poster. The situation escalated to the point that the spokesperson for Compromís, Papi Robles, went down to the lectern to speak and demand to see the report.

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, is currently the main problem of the bloc that won the regional and municipal elections of 2023 and rushed to occupy all the positions of power where PP and Vox added up. Mazón remains in his place surrounded by a small group of faithful, but both the state leadership and some internal factions of the party in Valencia have already begun to move because they consider him too heavy a burden to face the next elections with guarantees. Vox has also opened up to looking for a solution because it fears being dragged down by Mazón's discredit, since each time they must be the ones to save his skin in Les Corts, as will presumably happen if the PSPV finally presents a motion of censure. It is not ruled out that, depending on what happens in the next few days, we will see Vox asking for the head of Mazón.
