It was an unusual crime. It was January 25, 2022, in a rural area with difficult access, in the Barony of Rialb, in the Noguera region. A 61-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest in the middle of the forest. It was a long-range shot, fired from more than 100 meters away, and only one bullet was needed to end his life. The victim's name was Joan Coromina, and when police investigators heard that name, it quickly seemed familiar.

Up to 95 people have been arrested this year in state police operations for their alleged involvement in jihadist terrorism, eight of them minors. According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, 84 have been arrested in Spain and 11 abroad. According to sources familiar with the investigation consulted by the ARA, the man died as a result of an assault with a firearm and everything points to the fact that the victim was involved in a drug robbery, that is, that he had entered the property with the intention of stealing the stored drugs.
