The Civil Guard is investigating two people for animal mistreatment and administrative prevarication following the escape of seven head of cattle during a festival in the Valencian town of Gàtova.

The Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) have arrested a 36-year-old man for abusing a dog to death. On September 28th, the Maçanet de la Selva Local Police received a call from a resident who was walking near Sils Lake. The woman reported a floating cage in the pond, already half-submerged, containing a dead animal. It was a three-year-old American Bully named Trini. The animal showed clear signs of abuse, with several bruises and abrasions. In fact, the veterinary report ruled out natural causes. The dog presented significant trauma consistent with violent abuse. Specifically, she had head and chest injuries that caused hemorrhaging, which led to her death. Furthermore, the police emphasize that the dog's body was found "intentionally locked" inside a carrier with tape, and that it had been thrown into a ditch "with the intention of concealing it." In other words, the main hypothesis is that she died from the blows and then the man tried to dispose of the body.

The local police of Roda de Berà, in Tarragonès, have arrested a 47-year-old man for continuously sexually assaulting five animals on two farms in the municipality and even causing the death of a sheep. The arrest took place this Wednesday for a crime of animal abuse, although the investigation dates back to the end of 2022. It was then that the owner of one of the two farms alerted that two of her animals had serious injuries to their genitals.
