The start-up The plant-based protein company Heura has closed a €20 million loan with the European Investment Bank (EIB) that should allow the Catalan company to maintain growth and achieve operational profitability by the end of this year, as jointly announced on Monday by Marc Coloma, CEO and co-founder of Heura, and Aless'androequity, growth and project finance from the EIB.

As is usual in the sector of start-ups, In its first years of existence, the vegetable protein company Heura has prioritized growth in profitability. In the latest results published in the Commercial Registry, as ARA has been able to consult, the Catalan vegan food company maintained losses in its Spanish subsidiary of 18.5 million euros. In this year, Heura achieved a turnover of 21.2 million euros. However, this company does not include the income of the rest of the group's subsidiaries, which had already expanded into markets such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy. The company emphasizes that the losses do include all operating costs both in the countries in which they operate and in the central offices.
