"BK_SLT_LNA~" promised: to push through a judicial reform that was written in our electoral program. "We defended it to the very end, and then we left the choice in the hands of the citizens," Meloni stated in a video posted on social media, acknowledging the initiative's failure. The separation of the careers of judges and prosecutors was one of the most controversial issues introduced by the reform. The technicalities of the first weeks of the campaign gave way to mutual attacks between the government, the opposition, and the judiciary, which largely opposed a reform it feared would jeopardize the independence of the judiciary. "If the reform is not approved, we will find ourselves with even more negligent judges advancing in their careers and even more surreal decisions affecting the lives of citizens." "Illegal immigrants, rapists, pedophiles, and drug traffickers released from prison will sow chaos without any legal consequences," the victim went so far as to say, justifying a constitutional reform that included the creation of a court exclusively to judge the professional or ethical misconduct of judges.

In the current uncertain international climate, where geopolitical crises increasingly influence markets, this metal remains a safe-haven asset par excellence; a wild card that would allow the country to weather a period of instability. But to whom does this treasure, held by its central bank, belong? This is the question that has divided Italian politicians and experts for weeks, after the government of Giorgia Meloni pushed through an amendment during negotiations on next year's budget law. This amendment explicitly states that the gold reserves deposited in Bankitalia—which have a market value of 5-0—are no longer valid. of the Italian people."

After her plan to transfer migrants and asylum seekers to Albanian deportation camps was rejected by the Italian courts, the entire EU has now voted in a formal agreement to approve this system, which will allow each country to... export their unwanted migrants in deportation camps located in non-EU countries. In fact, yesterday's agreement is a major victory for both Meloni and the far-right's ideology, and represents a setback for the policies respecting human rights and defending human values that might still have remained in Europe.

This is logical, and we can also see it reflected in the mirror of history: a hundred years ago, fascisms also went from being minority and extremist movements to being accepted, supported, and applauded by broad sectors of the population. The same thing is happening now. The most prominent case of whitewashing of a far-right figure in Europe, so far, has been the premier Italian Giorgia Meloni, racist, supremacist, government ally with Salvini's League and declared admirer of Mussolini, but nevertheless applauded by Ursula von der Leyen and the European Commission as the promoter of an immigration policy as advanced as closing immigrants in detention centers in Albania. Meloni represents the "reasonable" far right, with whom it's supposedly possible to work and make progress. He's a necessary lifeline for the most immobile political, economic, and financial powers and for followers of MAGAs, MEGAs, and their ilk.

The Tajani decree—named after the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani— limits the blood vessels (right of blood) to two generations of foreigners with Italian ancestry; that is, from now on only those who have parents or grandparents born in Italy will be able to receive a passport. Until last week, the legal principle of blood vessels included the descendants of anyone born in Italy after 1861, the date of the unification process. The news has fallen like a bucket of cold water in Argentina, where some 25 million people—more than half the population—have Italian surnames, and where it is estimated that between 40,000 and 60,000 applications for citizenship will now be discarded or, at least, put on hold.

Instead of a more just and free world, more prosperous and at peace, this second quarter of the 21st century opens up a harsher, more threatening, even wilder one. The images of a chainsaw to illustrate a policy of administrative reform, that of a resort The threat of a luxury tourist project to "pacify" the Gaza Strip or the threat of a plundering of natural resources to compensate for the weapons sent to Ukraine to defend its sovereignty, are devastating for any minimum moral and democratic conscience.
