The demonstration, which began in front of the Post Office building and ended in front of the Catalan Parliament, was organized by the 0-3 Platform of Catalonia under the slogan "0 excuses, 3 reasons: justice, equity, and future." Chanting "We are education, not daycare," the demonstrators not only demanded better conditions for professionals in the sector, but also advocated for a reduction in the student-teacher ratio and the right of children to a quality, equitable public education from the first day of life. The Platform's spokesperson, Joan Cela, stated that Catalan daycare centers have the highest ratios in Europe and demanded that "children be put at the center." "We want to be treated like the second cycle of early childhood education; we want to have the same rights," Cela asserted. Throughout the march, various signs could be seen, such as "If there's a shortage of staff in schools, children and adults alike suffer," "Childhood policies with pedagogical criteria," "Lower ratios, more hugs," and "We fight for the 0-3 level." "We have a very complicated situation, with five different models, involving private companies and city councils," Cela emphasized. However, she affirmed that people came to the march from all over, in an unprecedented demonstration. "An improvement in working conditions is necessary, as well as lower ratios and the creation of a 0-3 age group chart so that all of this can begin to be discussed," she concluded.

Catalan households allocate 43.5 out of every 100 euros of their income to basic expenses, such as housing, groceries, and energy consumption (electricity, water, and fuel). This amount, which represents an average of 1,342 euros per month, is part of the third Planeta Propietario Barometer. The analysis, prepared by the Mutual Association of Property Owners, reveals the highest figure since the study began. It shows that household bills, which consume a significant portion of the minimum wage (SMI) – €1,184 per month last year – mean that 3 out of 10 Catalans have difficulty paying for these basic expenses. Households where the family depends on a single minimum wage earner must allocate more than their entire net income to basic expenses, leaving no room for savings or unexpected costs. However, Catalonia is not the autonomous community where basic expenses consume the largest share of income. Ahead of them are the Balearic Islands, with 50.1%, Andalusia (49%), the Canary Islands (47.9%), and the Community of Madrid (46.2%), according to the same study, based on interviews and questions posed to 2,339 men and women over 18 years of age, distributed across autonomous communities according to their weight in the total. Housing, which limits rents in high-demand areas, is a key factor.

And that wasted food could have been used by 300,000 people. Or, to put it another way, it would cover the needs of 14% of the population at risk of poverty. These are the calculations made this Monday by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, which until now did not exclude food thrown away at homes, but rather accumulated it in a count that included waste from restaurants and shops.
