The current president of Cecot, the Vallesana employers' association, Xavier Panés, has decided to run for re-election in the elections that this organization will hold on June 3. Its board of directors has agreed in this Wednesday's meeting to initiate the electoral process for the presidency of the entity, which will culminate with the holding of the general electoral assembly on June 3, 2026.

The lack of talent and qualified personnel to fill job vacancies is not only a problem for companies, but also affects economic growth. The employers' association of the Vallès region, Cecot, has issued this warning and raised the issue in a report entitled Towards a sustainable labor market 38 proposals to address the problem, which has various facets, ranging from demographics to changes in the labor market. Among the proposals are aligning school hours with work schedules, promoting active and reversible retirement, and further encouraging teleworking, among others aimed at attracting more talent to companies.

"At Cecot, we welcome the government's proposal, but we cannot confuse this step forward with a definitive solution: it is not a special economic agreement, nor does it come close to the figures that Catalonia requires." This was the assessment of Xavier Panés, president of the employers' association Cecot, regarding the new financing model for Catalonia, during the association's traditional press conference held at the beginning of the year. In this regard, the organization welcomes the new financing model as a "step forward" in addressing Catalonia's fiscal deficit, but regrets that it is insufficient and, therefore, will not be the definitive solution to the region's "structural problem."

This represents a 3.6% increase compared to last year's average and even more so compared to the 67,734 euros in 2023. This is a figure from the managers of Reempresa, the business buying and selling market created in 2011 by the Valles-based employers' association Cecot and the Self-Employment Foundation, which has been collaborating with CaixaBank for ten years.

The first employers' association to take a public photo with former president Carles Puigdemont since his exile in 2017 was Foment del Treball. It was during the campaign for the Catalan elections on May 12 (therefore, at a key moment), when the top brass of the employers' association went to Perpignan to meet again with the leader of Junts. The meeting was cooked up by the president of the entity (and former leader of Unió), Josep Sánchez Llibre, who regularly maintains contact with Puigdemont, according to several sources consulted. Now, however, he is no longer alone: Junts' contact with the employers' association has intensified since the party is key in the Congress of Deputies to give stability to Pedro Sánchez's government and in recent weeks a lot of employers' associations have paraded through Waterloo so that Puigdemont collects their demands. Above all, that of stopping the reduction of the working day to 37.5 hours a week promoted by the Spanish vice president and leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz.
