For sixty-six years, Healthcare It champions a healthcare model that puts people at the center. Founded, managed, and directed by physicians, the organization has built its own healthcare system over decades, where medicine is at the heart of all its decisions, without any other interests taking a back seat. Medical expertise, quality care, and a human touch are the pillars upon which a project that understands health as a fundamental right has been built.

Every year in Catalonia, more than 1,300 young people reach the age of majority and, therefore, are no longer under the guardianship of the Catalan government, beginning their transition to adulthood on their own. This figure has quadrupled in the last 10 years. As a society, we need to reverse this trend, ensuring that this group is not alone as they enter adulthood, a particularly vulnerable time. This is a mission that the non-profit organization Punt de Referència has been carrying out for almost three decades, creating connections through social mentoring promoted by volunteers who build trust with young people between the ages of 16 and 23 and support them for nine months.

Anna Gual's son was four years old when he had to be operated on for carnots and tonsils at the Hospital Universitari de Terrassa. It was November 3, 2023. Gual entered the operating room lobby with the little boy in her arms. There, they both witnessed the sedation – intranasally – of a crying girl and then she was taken inside. One, two, three, four, five minutes. It was her turn. Pre-anesthesia medication is administered with the aim of reducing the anxiety of patients in pediatric operations. Unfortunately, and unlike that girl, the sedation did not have the desired effect on Gual's son: "He was so nervous that he kept crying." Two nurses then took him away: "They had to tear me from my arms to take him to the operating room; it was traumatic," she laments.
